Giant's Head by EnnorProgress update on “The Giant’s Heart” : I finished scene 3 this week. Now on to scene 4, featuring giant spiders with electric guitars and the she-eagle of Mount Skycrack.

This is actually my first post about this project, which is strange, because I’ve been working on it for a while now. So, a little about this new micro opera:

  • “The Giant’s Heart” is based on the story of the same name by George Macdonald, of whom C.S. Lewis said, “I have never concealed the fact that I regarded him as my master; indeed I fancy I have never written a book in which I did not quote from him.”
  • The completed work will mix video, pre-recorded music and live singers in a highly-portable production intended to make it easy for singers to self-produce the work.
  • Musically, the work mixes pop and classical freely, classical singers with electric guitars/synthesizers/jazz percussion, and catchy melodies over rhythmically complex passages.

I plan to finish the music by the first of March and have a first production premiered sometime in the Spring. Stay tuned for more progress updates . . .
