First of all, please have a look at the new site and menu design and let me know what you think. It actually does have something to do with this post. :-)
Perhaps it is a little late to start talking about New Years resolutions, half way into the first month of 2011, but I wanted to give it a trial run before I started talking about it. So what’s the resolution? Work on just one thing at a time. So far it is going pretty good.
One of my great problems is the plethora of ideas that assault me from all directions. There never seems to be any end of good ideas and great projects to spend my time on. Of course, when I give in to too many of those projects at any one time none of them gets done properly and I end up feeling frustrated and depressed. Ack! Hence the resolution: one project at a time until that project is done, then choose a new project and work on it until it is done.
Obviously, this will not work for things like rehearsing for an upcoming concert, but it will work for the majority of my projects and is serving me well. So far I’ve managed to complete:
- A new home-dyed duck-cloth shirt I started last year : 1/1/11
- The last of my articles on my health quest for Classical Singer Magazine : 1/4/11
- Choosing the literature for the next American Fork Children’s Choir concert : 1/5/11
- A whiteboard printmaking test : 1/5/11
- Much needed update to ThirteenforHalloween.com : 1/7/11
- Restructuring of ChoirWorks.com with better navigation options : 1/10/11
- Finished redesigning and creating a better menu for this site 1/11/11
And a couple of other trivial things. Anyway, seems to be a great way to work. In the past I’ve flitted from project to project and just never feel like I’m making the progress I want. So, here’s a toast to very productive 2011 doing just one thing at a time.
