I recently did an update to the page that has information on my first opera Abinadi. It includes a new piano/vocal score, recordings, videos and production materials. Unfortunately, there is not room to host all the archival photos I have from BYU’s 2003 production of the opera on that page. I have therefore placed all the photos I have pertaining to that production in this gallery:
Set Designs from the 2003 production at BYU by Doug Ellis.
The sets, as designed by Doug Ellis for the mainstage production by BYU exceeded my wildest expectations. The pyramid was this wonderful, rotating, modular piece that opened on one side to become the interior of the courtroom. I am so grateful for the willingness of BYU to invest in this opera and make it look so wonderful. Honestly, I expected little more than a minimalist treatment, but was given far more.
Following are photos of the original miniature set designs from which the full-sized pieces were built.
